For most modern cars in Australia, a sensible oil change interval is around 10,000–15,000 km or 12 months, whichever rudely arrives first.
If you do lots of short trips, dusty outback runs, heavy towing or spirited driving, cut that to 5,000–7,500 km because your oil’s copping a hiding.
Turbos and direct-injection engines are fussier, and many diesels with DPFs are happiest near 10,000 km using the exact spec oil.
