omeo highway Page 17

The Omeo Highway snakes through Victoria’s High Country, linking the Mitta Mitta valley to Omeo with enough bends to make a corkscrew blush.

It’s narrow in places, beautifully scenic, and best tackled by confident drivers and riders who enjoy mountain twisties more than straight lines.

Weather bites up here: expect frost, snow and fallen branches, plus occasional closures—check current conditions before you set off.

Fuel and services are scarce between towns, and mobile reception can be patchy, so plan stops at Mitta Mitta and Omeo and bring a bit of old-fashioned common sense.

Get it right and you’re rewarded with big views, quiet valleys and the sort of road that makes detours feel like destiny.
