Chasing outdoor pubs in Melbourne? You’re spoilt for choice: leafy beer gardens across the inner north, rooftop bars in the CBD and Southbank’s riverside haunts all deliver sunshine, shade and a cold one without elbowing indoors. Head to Fitzroy, Collingwood, St Kilda and Richmond for big courtyards; the breweries tend to throw in dog‑friendly nooks and heaters for when Melbourne remembers it’s Melbourne. Roll up early on sunny weekends or book, because half the city has the same brilliant idea the minute the clouds part. Check venue policies for pets, smoking and closing times, and bring a layer—four seasons per hour is still very much a thing.
