In Victoria you overtake on the right, only when you’ve got a clear view and a comfy gap to duck back in—no heroics. Never exceed the speed limit, indicate well before moving out and back, and give cyclists at least 1.0 m up to 60 km/h and 1.5 m over 60 km/h. Lines matter: cross only when the line nearest you is broken; double or single solid on your side means wait. Don’t overtake at pedestrian or railway crossings, on or near intersections (unless signs/markings allow it), or where “No Overtaking or Passing” is posted. You may pass on the left only if the vehicle ahead is turning right and it’s safe, or on multi-lane roads; otherwise keep left unless overtaking. For the fine print, check VicRoads’ official rules.
