p1 restrictions vic

In Victoria, P1 (red P) drivers must have a 0.00 BAC and display red P-plates front and rear—no excuses, not even for Grandma’s sherry trifle.

No mobile phone use at all: no hands-free, no Bluetooth, no touching it for maps—park if you must tap. You can carry only one peer passenger aged 16–21 at any time (immediate family excepted or with an exemption). High-powered vehicles are off the menu—think most V8s and turbo/supercharged petrol rockets—unless you’ve got an exemption.

Seatbelts for every bum on a seat, obey posted limits, and keep demerits down unless you fancy public transport chic. Do 12 clean months and you progress to P2 (still 0.00 BAC and no phone), one step closer to the full ticket.
