p plate laws qld

Ah, the glorious P plates of Queensland—a rite of passage for every young Aussie driver and a bureaucratic maze wrapped in red and green plastic.

  • Display: Red P plates for provisional P1 drivers, green for P2.
  • Speed Limits: 90 km/h max on P1, 100 km/h on P2.
  • Blood Alcohol: Zero tolerance. Any alcohol and you're toast.
  • Passenger Limits: P1 drivers are restricted from carrying more than one passenger under 21 between 11 pm and 5 am unless supervised.
  • Duration: P1 for 12 months minimum, then P2 for 2 years.

Of course, these laws can change, so check the Queensland Department of Transport or ServiceCentral for the latest and greatest. Drive safe, or your P plates might come off sooner than you think.
