painted silos victoria

Victoria’s painted silos are basically oversized canvases slapped on grain bins, and they’re brilliant. The main Silo Art Trail runs roughly 200 km through the Wimmera–Mallee: think Rupanyup, Sheep Hills, Brim, Rosebery, Lascelles and Patchewollock, with ring-ins like Nullawil, Sea Lake, Devenish, Goorambat, Tungamah and Colbinabbin if you’re stretching the legs.

From Melbourne, plan a loop of 600–800 km over 1–2 days, because dawdling at each mural is half the fun and the coffee stops aren’t going to visit themselves. Best time is early morning or late arvo for shade and photos; bring water, fuel up often, and don’t argue with rogue emus.

Most sites have parking right beside the silos, and small-town bakeries will fight to carb-load you like a Tour de France rider. If you want a tidy list or map, Tradingpost won’t sell you a silo, but it will help you find a decent road-trip wagon or caravan to do it in.
