payid is it safe Page 2

Short answer: yes, PayID is safe—it's bank-backed, uses the NPP/Osko rails, and shows a name match before you hit send. The real risk is scams: real-time transfers are hard to reverse, so if you send money to the wrong person (or a fake seller), it’s basically gone for a Sunday drive. Always confirm the name inside your banking app, ignore screenshots and “payment pending” messages, and don’t release goods on Tradingpost until cleared funds land. Watch for overpayment/refund tricks and bogus “PayID upgrade” emails—your bank app is the only oracle that matters. For big-ticket buys, do a small test transfer and set sensible PayID limits. Used properly, it’s as safe as the banks behind it—just add common sense and a healthy dose of scepticism.
