peugeot 4007 problems

The Peugeot 4007 is essentially a Mitsubishi Outlander in a French suit, so most trouble is predictable rather than operatic.

  • DPF clogging on short trips, leading to warning lights and forced regens.
  • EGR valve and intake carbon build-up causing rough idle and occasional limp mode.
  • Boost leaks from intercooler/turbo hoses; occasional turbo actuator niggles.
  • Clutch and dual-mass flywheel wear on manuals, showing as shudder or slip under load.
  • Ageing suspension bushes and wheel bearings, heard as knocks and highway hum.
  • Electrical hiccups (window regulators, central locking, sensors) and reluctant key modules.
  • Diesel timing belt/water pump neglect and injector seal leaks (“black death”).

Use low-ash oil, give it regular highway runs, and ensure DPF software updates are current. A pre-purchase scan and service-history check is cheaper than a new clutch and a weekend of tears. If the test drive feels wheezy or smoky, walk away and let someone else collect the warning lights.
