Transferring a PPQ plate in Queensland is less “heist movie,” more paperwork and a fee.
You (the seller) and the buyer lodge a transfer with PPQ—online or via their form—with both parties’ details, proof of ID, signatures, and the transfer fee paid.
If the plate is on a registered vehicle, you also update the registration with TMR so the car and the plate’s new owner match; if it’s on plate hold, it’s just a PPQ ownership swap.
Expect processing in a few business days, and don’t forget: fines, rego and toll accounts don’t magically transfer with the pretty letters.
Interstate moves usually mean handling plates through the destination state’s system, so check the rules before you go plate‑hopping.
