In Western Australia, proof of ownership for a car usually comes in the form of the vehicle's registration papers or a transfer certificate. When you buy a car, the Department of Transport issues a transfer document that acts as your legal proof. Without this, you’re basically waving a fancy paperweight around, not a deed to the vehicle. If you’re trying to prove ownership, make sure you have the original registration papers or a receipt from the previous owner, and ensure the transfer process is completed through the WA Department of Transport.
