Meet dogs aged 1+yr for sale in Tasmania on Tradingpost, listed by private sellers and businesses right across Australia.
An older dog is worth meeting more than once. Ask to see the dog where it lives, watch how it settles with you, and ask the seller about its microchip and vaccination records, whether it has been desexed, how it goes with children and other animals, and why it is being rehomed. Bring everyone who will live with the dog to that first meeting.
Ask how the dog walks on a lead, how it copes alone during the day, and how it is around children and other animals. Habits already formed make it far easier to picture the dog in your home. Each listing shows the seller's location and a way to get in touch, and most carry photos, so you can ask your questions before you travel.
Tasmania is small enough that almost anywhere in the state is a day trip, so it is worth searching the whole island rather than one city. Anything on the mainland means a ferry or a flight, so settle the arrangements before you agree to anything.
Breeds Australian buyers look for most: Cavoodle, Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, Groodle, French Bulldog, Border Collie, German Shepherd Dog and Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Also popular: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Labradoodle, Dachshund and Maltese. Or narrow by male and female.
