The Queensland Light Vehicle Inspection Manual (LIM) is the rulebook used by Approved Inspection Stations to decide if a light vehicle is roadworthy in QLD.
It sets the pass/fail criteria for things like brakes, steering, tyres, lights, rust/structural integrity and certain accessories or mods on vehicles up to 4.5 t GVM. Issued by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, it’s updated periodically, so use the latest version rather than that dog‑eared PDF you downloaded in 2016. If you’re chasing modification approvals, you’ll also bump into the QLD vehicle modification codes, which sit alongside the LIM rather than replace it. Short version: know the manual, pass the inspection, and spend your cash on fuel instead of rechecks.
