qld mobile phone fine Page 694

In Queensland, fiddling with your mobile phone while driving is about as popular as a mozzie at a nudist colony—strictly verboten and costly. The fine for using a handheld mobile phone without a hands-free system is typically around $400, plus 4 demerit points. This includes texting, calling, or using apps while behind the wheel. The law aims to keep your eyes on the road, not on your screen, because your mates can wait but that kangaroo probably can't.

If you're caught multiple times, expect the penalties to ratchet up faster than your heartbeat when you spot a speed camera. For the latest and exact figures, consult the Queensland Government's official transport site or have a squiz at ServiceCentral.
