qld p plate laws Page 3

Wondering what QLD P-plate laws actually mean for you? In short: keep your BAC at 0.00, slap those P1 (red) or P2 (green) plates on nice and visible, and expect stricter rules than full-licence drivers. P1 drivers—especially if you’re under 25—face tougher limits like a total ban on mobile phone use and late-night passenger restrictions; P2 eases off a bit, but zero BAC and plate display remain non-negotiable. Restrictions on high-powered vehicles can apply to P-platers, with exemptions only in specific circumstances. Demerit points are tighter too, so a handful of slip-ups can park you on the bus quicker than you can say "logbook." For the latest nitty-gritty and exemptions, check official QLD TMR guidance.
