qld p plate restrictions Page 4

Ah, Queensland P-plate restrictions – because freedom comes with a hefty dose of bureaucracy. If you’re on your provisional licence, you’re mostly stuck with a 90 km/h speed limit and a zero blood alcohol limit, even if you’re old enough to legally buy a schooner. Night-time driving restrictions apply if you’re under 25, with a ban from midnight to 5 am on weekends and public holidays.

Your car must display those infamous red 'P' plates, proudly announcing your novice status to the world (and every other driver ready to judge your every move). Also, you can’t tow trailers or drive high-performance vehicles with monster engines—because apparently, that’s just asking for trouble.

For the nitty-gritty, check the official Queensland Department of Transport website or browse listings on Tradingpost and CarShowroom for compliant vehicles.
