Australia handles recalls like a well-drilled pit crew: manufacturers announce them, and they’re listed on Product Safety Australia and the federal Vehicle Recalls database. To check your car, search by make/model — but for the bullseye, punch in your VIN on the maker’s or dealer’s site and book in if you’re affected. Repairs under a recall are free, even if your car’s older than your Spotify playlists. Dealers contact registered owners, but records can miss second or third owners, so don’t wait for a letter. Big safety recalls (think airbags) are common enough that a quick check before buying used — say on Tradingpost — is just good form. If you spot a recall notice, treat it like a warning light: get it sorted, then carry on smugly.
