red light camera victoria Page 2

Ah, red light cameras in Victoria—those sneaky little devices catching you mid-yellow, or worse, mid-red. These automated cameras snap photos when your vehicle crosses an intersection after the light has turned red, aiming to keep pedestrians and other drivers safe, or at least fund the state coffers.

Fines typically start at around AUD 375, with demerit points added to your licence. The cameras use sensors embedded in the road and high-speed flash photography to catch offenders. Common complaints include the timing of amber lights being too short and occasional false positives.
