Replacing transmission fluid isn’t witchcraft, but it does punish the careless. Warm the car, lift it safely, drain the old fluid (pan off if there’s no plug), swap the filter and gasket if fitted, then refill with the exact spec fluid to the correct level.
Cycle through the gears with the engine running, check for leaks, recheck the level at the specified temperature, and don’t mix fluids—CVT and DCT boxes are picky divas. Many cars need fresh fluid roughly every 60,000–100,000 km or 4–6 years, but some “sealed” units require specialist procedures. If that sounds like a Saturday gone sideways, a good workshop will do it without redecorating your driveway in cherry ATF. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
