Free stuff: the Service NSW rego check shows registration status, expiry, plate details, make/model and any rego restrictions.

Not free: a proper encumbrance/finance, stolen and written-off check comes via the PPSR and costs about $2—yes, the price of a questionable servo coffee, but far cheaper than inheriting someone else’s loan.
