reverse parallel parking qld Page 643

Reverse parallel parking in Queensland is the same sensible dance anywhere: slow, deliberate, and with indicators doing more work than your ego.

• Pull up alongside the car ahead of the space, indicator on, about an arm’s length out, and stop with your rear bumpers roughly aligned.
• Select reverse, check mirrors and blind spot, then turn toward the kerb and creep back until your car slides in at about a 45° angle.
• Straighten the wheel, continue reversing, and counter‑steer to end up parallel and close to the kerb without touching it.
• Finish neatly, engage park brake, and make sure you’re within any signed time limits, clear of driveways, and facing the direction of traffic.

If in doubt, pull out and try again—neighbours will forgive a second attempt faster than a scraped rim; check Queensland’s official road rules for the fine print.
