rotating tyres on a car Page 8754

Rotate your tyres every 8,000–10,000 km (or every second service) to stop the fronts doing the hard yakka while the rears take a holiday.

For FWD cars with non‑directional tyres: move the front tyres straight back, and bring the rears to the front on opposite sides.

For RWD/AWD: move the rear tyres to the front on opposite sides, and drop the fronts straight back.

Directional or staggered setups? Keep them on the same side front‑to‑back; swapping sides needs a remount to preserve direction.

After rotating, set pressures, reset any TPMS, and torque the wheel nuts properly—no rattle‑gun heroics.

If you spot odd wear, get an alignment; rotation hides problems about as well as sunnies hide a mullet.
