rules for red p platers vic Page 7

Ah, the infamous Red P plates in Victoria—your flashy badge of probationary driving glory. These red plates signify a probationary driver in the early stages of their licensed journey.

• Speed limit: You must stick to 90 km/h, no matter how tempting the open road.
• Zero blood alcohol: Absolutely no booze in your system, because one mistake is enough.
• Passenger restrictions: During night hours, you can only carry one passenger under 21 unless you're with a supervising driver.
• Mobile phone use: Hands-free only. If you’re caught fiddling with the phone, expect a fine and demerit points.

These rules are designed to keep you and others safe while you get the hang of driving. For the full legal spiel, check out VicRoads or ServiceCentral.
