sedan camping setup Page 53

Yes, you can camp out of a sedan—just think “tiny home”, minus the mortgage and the headroom. Fold the rear seats, slide a 180–190 cm inflatable mattress in, and keep gear in soft bags so they squash into the footwells. Ventilation is king: crack windows with mozzie nets or window socks, and never run the engine for heat—carbon monoxide doesn’t care how cosy you feel. Power your bits with a 12 V socket and a 20,000 mAh power bank or a compact lithium jump pack; a small LED lantern beats the phone torch every night of the week. Roof racks can take a box or lightweight tent, but mind limits (typically 50–75 kg dynamic) and don’t exceed your sedan’s boot latch’s will to live. Pack a tarp, a cheap foam mat to level the boot floor, and a sense of humour; you’ll wake up smug, slightly crinkled, and miraculously near a servo for coffee.
