Yes, you can sell a QLD‑registered car in NSW, but mind the paperwork or it’ll boomerang back to bite you. If you sell it registered, Queensland law requires a current Safety Certificate before you even advertise it, and you should lodge a QLD Notice of Disposal the moment money changes hands. The NSW buyer can’t keep QLD rego long‑term; they’ll need a NSW blue slip (AUVIS), a green slip (CTP), proof of purchase, stamp duty, and then plates at Service NSW. Safer alternative: cancel the QLD rego, hand back the plates, and the buyer uses an Unregistered Vehicle Permit to get it home. Either way, clear tolls, provide receipts, and keep copies of everything—nothing ruins a sale like surprise fines turning up months later.
