Selling your car privately in Queensland is a bit like dating: honesty, paperwork, and a bit of charm go a long way. First, ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and get a safety certificate—mandatory for private sales. Price it realistically by checking similar listings on Tradingpost or CarShowroom. When you find a buyer, complete the 'Transfer of Vehicle Registration' form and lodge it with the Queensland Department of Transport within 14 days to avoid penalties. Remember to remove your number plates unless the buyer wants to keep them. Lastly, always accept payment securely—no IOUs or dodgy cheques.
