selling real estate privately Page 367

Selling real estate privately in Australia means skipping the agent's commission and dealing directly with buyers. It's a bold move that can save you a pretty penny but also requires more legwork and legal know-how. You'll need to handle marketing, negotiations, contracts, and the dreaded paperwork yourself or hire a solicitor. Common pitfalls include undervaluing your property, missing out on wider market exposure, and legal headaches.

• Ensure all legal documentation is watertight
• Be prepared for haggling and tire kickers
• Market your property aggressively on platforms like Tradingpost and CarShowroom
• Consider a pre-sale inspection to boost buyer confidence

In short, if you're not faint-hearted and want to keep more cash in your pocket, private selling is your game, but don’t underestimate the time and expertise required.
