There’s no such thing as a Service NSW “international driver’s licence” — what you want is an International Driving Permit (IDP). In NSW, IDPs are issued by the motoring club (NRMA) on behalf of the Australian Automobile Association, and they must be carried with your valid licence. Visitors can usually drive in NSW on an overseas licence; if it’s not in English, carry a certified translation or an IDP. If you take up residence, you’ll need to switch to a NSW licence under the rules that apply to your visa status — check Service NSW for the current requirements. And beware the dodgy online “international licences”; they’re about as useful as a chocolate brake pad.
