A Service NSW Pink Slip (now called an eSafety check) is the quick roadworthiness inspection you need to renew rego on light vehicles over five years old in NSW.
An Authorised Inspection Station checks basics like brakes, tyres, lights, steering, suspension, leaks and windscreen, then lodges the result electronically to Service NSW.
If it passes, you’re clear to pay rego; if it fails, fix the defects and get it rechecked before the report expires.
Pink Slip reports are typically valid for 42 days, and it’s not a full pre-purchase inspection—just the legal minimum to keep the roads from turning into dodgem cars.
