In Queensland, the default speed limit in built-up areas is 50 km/h unless signs tell you otherwise, and outside built-up areas it’s generally 100 km/h.
Some motorways and rural highways are signed at 110 km/h, while school zones typically drop to 40 km/h during the posted times.
If there’s a sign, it wins the argument—your speedo doesn’t get a vote.
Roadworks and shared zones can be lower again, so ease off and save your licence (and your pride) for where it counts.
