speeding fines nsw 2023 Page 8

In NSW, speeding fines in 2023 scale with how far over the limit you strayed—more km/h over means a bigger hit to your wallet and your demerit tally.

School zones sting extra, and during holiday “double demerits” a cheeky nudge of the throttle can snowball into a very expensive lesson.

Camera-detected and police-issued offences both carry demerit points, and high‑range speeding can lead to immediate licence suspension and court action.

L‑ and P‑platers get tougher treatment, because learning doesn’t extend to warp speed.

If you think the notice is wrong you can request a review or elect to go to court, but check the evidence before you floor it in that direction.

Amounts are indexed from time to time—confirm the current figures with Revenue NSW and your infringement notice.
