stamp duty wa car Page 16

Ah, stamp duty in Western Australia for cars—an unavoidable punch in the wallet. You'll be paying a percentage based on the dutiable value of the vehicle (purchase price or market value, whichever is higher). The rates start at 1.75% for vehicles valued up to $25,000 and increase to 6.5% for those over $90,000. For example, a $30,000 car will set you back around $525 in stamp duty.

Remember, this is on top of the purchase price, so factor it into your budgeting for new or used cars. For exact numbers and any concessions (like for electric vehicles), check the official WA Department of Finance site or poke around Tradingpost and CarShowroom for price comparisons.
