stop sign victoria Page 217

In Victoria, a STOP sign means a full, dead stop at the stop line; if there’s no line, stop before entering the intersection. You must give way to any vehicle, cyclist, or pedestrian already in, entering, or approaching the intersection if there’s a risk of a tango you won’t enjoy.

There’s no magic “three‑second rule”—you just have to be completely stationary, then go only when safe. If your view’s blocked, you can stop at the line, creep forward to see, and proceed when it’s clear (stopping again if needed). Rolling through? That’s not stopping; that’s optimism with a fine attached.
