subaru liberty engine oil guide

The Subaru Liberty may be called Legacy elsewhere, but its engine still prefers proper oil over internet folklore. For the 2.5i FB25 (roughly 2013-on), the factory pick is 0W-20 full-synthetic; earlier EJ25 cars commonly use 5W-30. Turbo EJ255/EJ257 engines are happier on 5W-30 or 5W-40 full-synthetic, while the H6 EZ30/EZ36 likes a steady 5W-30 (or 5W-40 in hotter use). Look for oils meeting API SP (or SN Plus) and ILSAC GF-6; some manuals specify ACEA A3/B4—trust the handbook, not your mate’s group chat. Typical fill with filter is around 4.8–5.1 L for four-cylinders and 5.8–6.4 L for the H6, with service intervals commonly every 12,500 km or 6 months in Australia. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
