suzuki swift 2022 review Page 2

The 2022 Suzuki Swift is a pint-sized hatch that’s more fun than it has any right to be, like a terrier that’s discovered espresso. In Australia you get the frugal 1.2‑litre (≈66 kW/120 Nm) with a 5‑speed manual or CVT, or the perkier GLX Turbo’s 1.0‑litre three‑cylinder (≈82 kW/160 Nm). It weighs under a tonne, sips about 4.8–5.5 L/100 km in the real world, and rides better than its short wheelbase suggests. Cabin tech is simple but not tragic; safety brings AEB and lane alerts on most trims, with adaptive cruise in the GLX Turbo. Boot space is 242 L—fine for groceries, less fine for a drum kit. New in 2022 it sat around the low‑to‑mid AUD $20k bracket, and today used examples typically land between $15k–$25k depending on variant and kilometres. If you want fireworks, look elsewhere; if you want cheap thrills and cheaper fuel bills, the Swift nails it.
