sydney canberra road trip Page 534

Sydney to Canberra is an easy 285–300 km run down the M31 Hume and Federal Highways, about 3 to 3.5 hours if you behave.

Stop for pies at Sutton Forest, salute the Big Merino in Goulburn, and eyeball Lake George if it’s decided to exist this week.

Fuel and fast chargers are plentiful—Goulburn and Sutton Forest are safe bets—so leave the jerry cans and solar panels at home.

It’s mostly 110 km/h; watch for roos at dusk and highway patrols who adore enthusiastic right feet.

Expect tolls if you use Sydney’s motorways, and check for fog and crosswinds near the ranges.

Quick pre-flight: tyres, fluids, wipers, and snacks; then point it south and enjoy the world’s most efficient playlist.
