sydney to melbourne drive stops Page 5

Doing Sydney to Melbourne? Pick your poison: the quick Hume or the scenic coast.

On the Hume, classic stops are Goulburn (Big Merino), Gundagai (Dog on the Tuckerbox), Holbrook (yes, the submarine), and Albury–Wodonga for a proper feed and river stroll.

Fancy the coast? Try Kiama, Jervis Bay, Narooma, Merimbula, Eden, then Lakes Entrance and Sale before the final run in.

Plan fuel and coffee every 2–3 hours, avoid the holiday exodus, and book stays ahead—country motels vanish faster than hot pies at a servo.

Start early, watch for roos at dawn and dusk, and you’ll roll into Melbourne smug and caffeinated.
