tesla 3 charging Page 8

Charging a Tesla Model 3 in Australia is gloriously simple—unless you enjoy spreadsheets, in which case it’s Christmas.

At home, a wall charger delivers up to 11 kW AC (3‑phase), typically giving a big top‑up in about 6–10 hours, while a 10 A power point is more of an overnight-and-a-bit affair. On the road, DC fast chargers do the heavy lifting: the RWD peaks around ~170 kW and the Long Range/Performance up to ~250 kW, for roughly 10–80% in 25–30 minutes when the battery is warm. Expect home juice to cost about $0.25–$0.35/kWh, and big public DC units around $0.45–$0.75/kWh; a typical motorway top‑up is a few tens of dollars. For best results, navigate to the charger to precondition the battery and actually hit those headline speeds. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
