The first-gen Tesla Roadster (2008–2012) was the electric upstart built on a Lotus Elise skeleton—light on frills, heavy on volts.
It delivered about 185 kW (with the Sport model stepping up) and cracked 0–100 km/h in roughly 3.9–3.7 seconds, with an EPA-rated range near 390 km from its ~53 kWh battery.
Later 2.0/2.5 tweaks improved cooling and cabin bits, but it still felt more go-kart than grand tourer—charmingly so, if you like your fillings shaken.
Only around 2,450 were built, which is why used prices can be punchier than a flat white at an airport café. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
