If we’re talking verified, two-way top speed for a production car, the crown still sits with the Koenigsegg Agera RS at about 447 km/h (set in 2017). The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ did a stupendous 490 km/h run in 2019, but it wasn’t a two-way, officially recognised record. The SSC Tuatara had claims that sparked more debate than a backyard BBQ, and the Hennessey Venom F5 and Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut were still in the "promises, promises" phase in 2023.
So yes, humanity can build land-going missiles; getting everyone to agree on the scoreboard is the tricky bit. Until a clean, independently verified two-way run lands, the Agera RS remains the boringly undisputed champ.
