tilt fridge slide vs drop down Page 628

Choosing between a tilt fridge slide and a drop-down is the classic 4x4 conundrum: headroom versus biceps.

• Tilt slide pros: lighter, simpler, cheaper; suits wagons with decent hatch clearance.
• Tilt slide cons: fridge stays high; reach can still be awkward; watch for lids fouling the roof.

• Drop-down pros: lowers the fridge roughly 200–300 mm, kinder on shoulders; great for tall wagons and utes with canopies.
• Drop-down cons: heavier, pricier, eats payload and drawer space; more moving parts to rattle.

If you’re chasing easy access for shorter users or tall rigs, the drop-down is kindness itself; if weight, cost and simplicity matter, the tilt keeps things tidy. Measure your fridge height, slide travel and door opening before you commit. And on corrugations, both need stout mounts and proper tie-downs.
