The Toyota factory in Melbourne was the Altona plant in the city’s west, where Toyota built the Camry (including Hybrid) and Aurion.
Local manufacturing ended in October 2017, part of the broader wind-down of car building in Australia.
The site now serves Toyota in non-manufacturing roles—training, engineering support and logistics—rather than stamping out fresh sedans.
In short: the history remains, but the assembly lines have clocked off for good.
