If your Toyota HiAce has lit up like a pokie machine, it’s usually electrics having a tantrum, not a sign to soldier on. Start with the basics: low voltage from a tired battery or a lazy alternator will make every module throw a wobbly. A quick health check helps—battery should be around 12.4–12.7V engine off and roughly 13.8–14.5V when running. Then scan it with an OBD-II reader; the fault codes are the breadcrumb trail. If it’s in limp mode or showing brake/steering/airbag warnings, don’t punt it down the motorway—get it checked properly.

• Weak battery, failing alternator, or dodgy earths/terminals.
• Loose/blown fuses or relays after a jump-start or accessory fitment.
• Faulty ABS/wheel-speed sensor triggering ESP and brake lights.
• Aftermarket gadgets (stereos, trackers) upsetting the CAN bus.
• Water ingress in connectors or a failing clock spring (airbag light).

Fix the root cause, clear the codes, and the disco should end.
