transfer fee car victoria Page 8796

In Victoria, transferring a car’s rego means paying a fixed registration transfer fee to VicRoads, plus motor vehicle duty calculated on the dutiable value.

You’ll also need a current Roadworthy Certificate (unless exempt), proof of ID, and a sale receipt; the plates usually stay with the car.

Do the lot via myVicRoads or at a customer service centre within 14 days of purchase to avoid fines and grumpy letters.

Exact amounts change periodically and vary by vehicle type and price, so check VicRoads for the latest figures before you budget the first tank of fuel.
