transfer fees vicroads Page 8

Ah, the delightful world of transfer fees at VicRoads—because nothing says 'fun' like handing over your hard-earned cash to the government when you sell your car. In Victoria, the transfer fee is typically around $42.80 AUD if done within 14 days of sale; otherwise, expect a penalty. Beyond the fee, stamp duty also kicks in, usually 4.2% of the vehicle's market value or the purchase price, whichever is higher. So, if you’re grabbing a bargain or selling a clunker, your wallet gets a fair shake from the taxman.

For the latest and exact figures, checking VicRoads’ official site or peeking at ServiceCentral might save you some surprises. Used car marketplaces like Tradingpost often list prices excluding these fees, so don’t get caught short!
