turning left into multi-lane road victoria Page 124

In Victoria, turn from the leftmost lane and enter the leftmost lane of the new road—unless arrows or signs say otherwise.

Signal early, slow to a sensible speed, and give way to pedestrians crossing the road you’re entering, cyclists in any bike lane, and traffic already in the lane you’ll join.

If there’s a slip lane, you must give way to everyone—pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles on the road you’re entering—before tiptoeing in.

Planning to swing straight into the second or third lane? Only do it if markings permit and it’s genuinely safe; otherwise, join the left lane first and change later.

Left turn on red is a no-go unless a sign specifically allows it (“Left Turn on Red After Stopping”), in which case stop fully and give way to, well, everything.
