uber carshare review Page 9

Uber Carshare, formerly Car Next Door, is a peer-to-peer setup that lets you nab anything from a city hatch to a tradie ute with a few taps. It shines for urban Aussies who don’t want the pain of ownership: book nearby, unlock via the app, pay for the time you use, then hand it back without the awkward “mate’s rates” chat. The catch is consistency—cleanliness and availability can vary by owner and suburb, and late fees will pounce if you push your luck. Insurance cover is included with bookings, but the excess and distance charges deserve a careful read before you get carried away. If you’re organised and flexible, it’s terrific value; if you’re fussy and chronically late, expect it to feel less “sharing is caring” and more “lesson learned.”
