uniden dash cam review

Ah, the Uniden dash cam—Australia’s answer to capturing every unexpected kangaroo hop or the odd rogue Holden on the freeway. These cams typically boast Full HD recording, loop recording, and a wide-angle lens to catch all the kerfuffle. On the plus side, they’re generally reliable, have decent night vision, and won’t break the bank, with prices ranging from about $100 to $250 AUD new. Used models might pop up on Tradingpost or CarShowroom for a bargain if you’re lucky.

Cons? Some models suffer from dodgy GPS accuracy and sometimes a fiddly menu system that feels like it was designed by a committee of confused wombats. Battery life is usually limited, so expect to hardwire it or rely on parking mode draining your car battery.

• Occasional firmware bugs requiring updates
• Limited internal storage, so supplementary microSD cards needed
• Inconsistent customer support on some models

Overall, Uniden dash cams deliver solid bang for your buck, but a quick look at ServiceCentral reviews might save you a headache or two.
