used car pricing Page 748

Used car pricing in Australia is the dark art of age, kilometres, condition, and what everyone suddenly wants this week.

As a rule of thumb, new cars start around AUD 25k–35k for small hatches and soar past AUD 80k+ for big SUVs and utes; used prices hang off those RRPs with roughly ~15% drop in year one, then 8–12% per year after.

Expect city runabouts at roughly AUD 8k–25k, family SUVs AUD 15k–45k, dual-cab utes AUD 20k–60k, and EVs AUD 25k–70k depending on battery health and warranty left.

Clean service history, low owners, popular trims and tidy tyres push prices up; hail dents, sketchy mods or overdue timing belts drag them down.
