used car valuations australia Page 25

Valuing a used car in Australia is part maths, part detective work, and a dash of “nice try, mate.” Start with guides like RedBook or Glass’s to see trade-in, private, and dealer figures, then cross-check live listings on Tradingpost for real-world comps. Adjust for kilometres, service history, accident repairs, options, tyre/brake life, and remaining rego; city vs country demand can nudge prices too. Dealers add margin for warranty and overheads, while private sales sit lower but rely on your haggling backbone. Get a pre-purchase inspection and a PPSR check; a clean report can save you thousands. Price near the sharper end of comparable cars to spark calls, then let the market tell you if you’re dreaming.
